I say 'find out' because if you've got this far, then you are obviously thinking about taking a holiday here and want to know more about the place.
The Podere Casanova is a casa colonica - a traditional Italian farmhouse - dating from the 17th century.
So why did we call it that?
To be honest, we couldn't think of an appropriate name until we looked at some old county records and discovered that the area was once called Casanova and, as Podere is the Italian name for this type of agricultural estate, we combined the two and came up with Podere Casanova.
When we decided to buy this house, in June 2000, our initial intention was to divide it into apartments and sell it on but as soon as we saw it we literally fell in love with it and couldn't bring ourselves to sell it again.
And then it seemed such a shame that other people couldn't share our enjoyment of such a special place so we decided to keep it as holiday apartments, as a place where lovers of Tuscany can discover the beauty of the surrounding countryside and still be within easy reach of one of the greatest cities of art in the world.
The first years weren’t easy, but in time we built up an understanding of the needs of those who spend their holidays with us, and vice versa – our guests have become friends and appreciate the care and love that we put into giving them a holiday they will never forget.
So here we are.
