When I travel, I love discovering the customs and traditions of the places I visit because I believe that traveling is also a way to feel part of a community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this newsletter, I\u2019ve decided to share some traditional events that take place in April. If you\u2019re in Tuscany during this time, you absolutely can\u2019t miss them!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1. L\u2019Antica Giudeata \u2013 Chianciano Terme<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the evening of Good Friday, Chianciano Terme hosts L\u2019Antica Giudeata, a historical reenactment featuring over 150 costumed participants.<br>The procession moves through the streets of the village: Christ carries the Cross, escorted by Roman soldiers on horseback, while the Madonna and the Pious Women mourn. Among the characters, you\u2019ll also find Pontius Pilate with his attendants and dignitaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2. Lo Scoppio del Carro \u2013 Florence<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the most anticipated Easter events in Florence is Lo Scoppio del Carro.<br>On Easter Sunday morning, around 10 AM, the Brindellone\u2014a 9-meter-tall cart pulled by oxen\u2014is led to the Duomo. There, a dove-shaped rocket ignites the fireworks inside, creating a breathtaking spectacle!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"733\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.podere-casanova.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/scoppio-carro-firenze-733x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1704\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.podere-casanova.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/scoppio-carro-firenze-733x1024.jpg 733w, https:\/\/www.podere-casanova.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/scoppio-carro-firenze-215x300.jpg 215w, https:\/\/www.podere-casanova.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/scoppio-carro-firenze-768x1073.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.podere-casanova.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/scoppio-carro-firenze.jpg 916w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 733px) 100vw, 733px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>3. La Processione degli Scalzi \u2013 Pienza<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Pienza, the evocative<em> Processione degli Scalzi<\/em> takes place on Good Friday. The statue of Christ is carried through the streets of the city, preceded by 12 hooded figures walking barefoot, each holding a torch. A deeply moving event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>4. La Passione di Cristo \u2013 Grassina<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Just 15 minutes from Florence, in the village of Grassina, one of the most powerful reenactments of the Passion of Christ takes place on Good Friday: La Passione di Cristo. With over 500 costumed participants, the procession moves through the town, while key moments from the life of Jesus are dramatically staged at different points along the route, accompanied by music and narration. <br>This tradition dates back over 300 years and, regardless of one\u2019s faith, it is a remarkable cultural and folkloric event not to be missed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">April: The Perfect Month for a Picnic in Tuscany<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the weather permits, April is the ideal month for an outdoor picnic. We, Tuscans, love them, and our region offers some wonderful places to enjoy one. Here are a few of my favorite spots:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"866\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.podere-casanova.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/pic-nic-aprile-866x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1706\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.podere-casanova.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/pic-nic-aprile-866x1024.jpg 866w, https:\/\/www.podere-casanova.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/pic-nic-aprile-254x300.jpg 254w, https:\/\/www.podere-casanova.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/pic-nic-aprile-768x908.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.podere-casanova.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/pic-nic-aprile-1299x1536.jpg 1299w, https:\/\/www.podere-casanova.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/pic-nic-aprile.jpg 1500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 866px) 100vw, 866px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\ud83c\udf33 Parco di Serravalle \u2013 Empoli<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perfect for families with children! A large green park with a small lake, outdoor games, a picnic area, and a bar. You won\u2019t find tourists, just locals. Bring a blanket, a ball, and fun is guaranteed!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\ud83c\udfde Parco dei Renai \u2013 Lastra a Signa<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The entrance is free, and here you\u2019ll find expansive green areas for picnics, a well-equipped beach, boat rentals for a tour of the lake, a climbing wall, and a large playground for the little ones. Info: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.parcorenai.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">www.parcorenai.it<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\ud83c\udfdb Villa Demidoff \u2013 Firenze<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you want to combine nature and culture, this is the perfect spot! Just a few kilometers from Florence, Villa Demidoff is accessible by car or bus and the entrance is free. In addition to relaxing in its green spaces, you can admire extraordinary works of art, such as the <em>Colosso dell\u2019Appennino <\/em>by Giambologna and the <em>Cappella del Buontalenti<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\ud83d\udca1 Florentine Tradition<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A Pasquetta picnic here is a classic!
